Sailor of the Year 2026 - Il Giornale della Vela

An important recognition for our Member Dario Castiglia, who was awarded Sailor of the Year 2026 in the Owner category during the 35th edition of the prize organised by Il Giornale della Vela.

Owner and helmsman of the Baltic 65 REMAX One, Castiglia was honoured for the results achieved on the international offshore racing scene and for the journey that brought the yacht back to top competitive form following the serious accident suffered during the 2023 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo.

After a long process of technical and sporting reconstruction, REMAX One returned to the spotlight by winning the Racing category at the ARC 2025 and securing second place in the CSA2 class at the 2026 St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

The jury wished to recognise not only the sporting achievements, but also the determination and resilience shown by Dario Castiglia in transforming an extremely complex situation into a new internationally successful project.
