IMA Maxi European Championship 2026

A strong start to the IMA Maxi European Championship 2026 for our Members Alessandro Del Bono and Pier Luigi Loro Piana, who starred in the Gulf of Naples during the opening day of inshore racing following the 71st Regata dei Tre Golfi.

In the Maxi 1 division, victory went to Capricorno, owned by Alessandro Del Bono, with Brazilian Olympic champion Torben Grael calling tactics, after a particularly technical race held between Capri and Sorrento in light and unstable wind conditions.

Second place went to My Song of Pier Luigi Loro Piana, author of an extremely solid performance in one of the most competitive fleets of the 2026 IMA Maxi European Championship.

The event, organised by Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia together with the International Maxi Association, in collaboration with Yacht Club Italiano and Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia, will continue over the coming days with further inshore races in the Gulf of Naples.
